Under Operation Sindoor, the Indian Air Force shot down a few aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force on May 9 when Pakistan carried out drone attacks. Air Marshal AK Bharti confirmed that the Indian air defence system foiled the attacks. DGMO Rajiv Ghai refused to comment on claims of Rafale loss and said the objective of the operation was achieved. Pakistan suffered heavy losses.

Digital Desk, New Delhi. The Indian Army confirmed in a press conference on Sunday that they were successful in shooting down some Pakistani aircraft on May 9, when the neighboring country carried out drone attacks in India’s border states.

He further said that India’s air defence system foiled Pakistan Air Force’s attempts to target army installations. Addressing a press briefing on the ongoing military confrontation between India and Pakistan, IAF Air Marshal AK Bharti said that the Indian side has inflicted some damage on the Pakistani side.

The joint press conference on Operation Sindoor was chaired by Air Marshal AK Bharti, DGMO Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai, Major General SS Sharma and Vice Admiral AN Pramod.

What did the Air Marshal say about Rafale?

On the number of aircraft shot down by India, the Air Marshal said, “We would not like to speculate here. I have numbers. And we are getting the technical details to establish it. I would not like to give any figure at this point of time, but certainly, there has been damage on their side which we have inflicted.”

Air Marshal Bharti refrained from answering whether India had suffered any loss of Rafale jets. He said, “We are in a state of war. Losing is part of war. At this point of time I would not like to comment on it. We are still in a state of war. My comments may benefit the adversary. All I want to say is that we have achieved our target. All our pilots are home.”
